August is a great time of year to visit the Mo. Fewer anglers, plenty of rising fish...some are difficult...and that is why we love fishing so much. Tough fish are rewarding fish.
Hopper feeding fish are always enjoyable to catch. Big bugs and big flies. Yes, they are on the hopper. Fish it with your favorite trailer fly. Whether it be a nymph dropper, or a slippery sliding caddis..it's all good.
As I mentioned above, there are far fewer folks around this time of year. The kids are returning to school, it is family vacation time...so therefore it is your time to be here. Solace can be found on most parts of the river...boy, that is nice.
Picture above and right is SOL with a respectable Brown on a Hopper...I fed him, and he cooperated...yes, SOL does fish occasionally
